Senior Data Engineer

Overview

Join our growing team of consultants as a Data Engineer, based in Wellington or Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects where data is at the heart of transformation. As a consultant at Tenzing, you’ll be part of a collaborative project team, contributing to the design, development and implementation of cloud data‑centric solutions. You’ll gain exposure to a variety of technologies and industries while building your expertise and growing your consulting capabilities.

This role sits within our Information Services practice, one of four key areas at Tenzing. The Information Services team partners with clients to deliver solutions across data science, data warehousing, data migration and digital content services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering. Industry experience in banking or utilities is highly desirable.
• Proven hands‑on experience with modern data platforms and tools, such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, AWS, DBT, GIT and Python or other cloud data‑centric technologies.
• A strong foundation in data engineering principles and practices including exposure to DevOps.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• A proactive, detail‑oriented and client‑focused mindset.
• Someone looking to grow into team and project technical leadership roles.
