The school opened in 1975 and has approximately 1900 students with 160 teaching and support staff combined.Role and responsibilitiesWe seek an outstanding Assistant Head of Faculty for the Faculty of Social Science.
The ideal candidate will have strengths as a classroom teacher and in curriculum design.
They will be a leader who places high value on knowledge-rich approaches and cognitive science-informed pedagogy with the capability to drive the professional growth of the wider team individually and collectively.
In this role, the Assistant Head of Faculty would directly support the Head of Faculty, lead a senior subject area (subject to specialisation and vacancy), and manage the Junior Social Science programme.Responsibilities include : Support the Head of Faculty and lead a senior Social Science subject area as assigned.Drive curriculum design and pedagogical development aligned with knowledge-rich and cognitive science-informed approaches.Lead and support professional growth for teachers within the Social Science Faculty, both individually and collectively.Oversee and develop the Junior Social Science programme.Collaborate with other faculties to ensure cross-curricular coherence and high academic achievement.Faculty and subjectsThe Social Science Faculty offers History, Geography, Classical Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Te Reo Maori and Tourism, alongside the junior programme.

The base salary for trained and registered teachers ranges from $61,329 to $103,086, depending on qualifications and experience.
An individual's actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
