About the role
Starship Child Health is looking for an Experienced Clinician to join our Physiotherapy team.
This role will be working in the neuromuscular MDT, developing the service, reviewing outcomes and providing high quality clinical care in clinic and outpatient settings.
Your passion for paediatrics and experience applying clinical knowledge is welcomed in providing premium healthcare services to our tamariki and youth.
This is a permanent, part-time role (0.4FTE / 16 hours) and forms part of the wider paediatric physiotherapy team.
You will have the opportunity to :
Provide a physiotherapy service to children and adolescents with neuromuscular conditions across clinic and outreach outpatient settingsCollaborate with the multi-disciplinary team, working closely together with whanau to ensure best outcomes for our patientsManage a clinical caseload using advanced knowledge and skills in the area of paediatric neuromuscular care to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients / clients health needsSupport junior staff within the physiotherapy team to develop knowledge and skills within neuromuscular physiotherapy managementRemain focused in the pursuit of Maori health gain as well as achieving equitable health outcomes for MaoriApply advanced clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning and expertise while modelling evidence- based practiceSupport the development of the Physiotherapy role into the Neuromuscular team, including service development, audit, and clinical pathwaysDemonstrate culturally safe practice that encompasses a diverse range of beliefs, values and practicesThrive within a vibrant, innovative and diverse setting amongst a supportive interdisciplinary team of Dietetics, Hospital Play Specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Therapists and Social WorkersAbout the Team / Service / Location
Our team of Physiotherapists excel in a fast-paced, challenging environment where evidence-based practice, strengths in interdisciplinary practice, clinical reasoning, and decision-making skills are highly valued.
The team provides a service to all inpatient areas in Starship, Child Health and selected outpatient areas.
The neuromuscular MDT clinics sit under the Paediatric Neurology and Neurosciences service and provides clinical care to children with across New Zealand.

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes :
NZ registration as a Physiotherapist with current Annual Practicing Certificate4+ years of post-graduate clinical work experience and 2 years full time within the area of specialtyProven experience working in clinical mentorship, training, and service development / quality improvementExcellent skills in relationship building and communication to a broad range of stakeholdersSound clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practiceProven skills in working with children with various neuromusculoskeletal conditions, including long term management of these conditions.Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary settingEffective time management, prioritisation and organisation skillsDrive, energy and initiative with excellent interpersonal skills Click here to view the position description
