Our client is seeking a Senior Solicitor with a solid employment law background to join its legal team in Wellington.

Mo tenei turanga mahi | About the role As a Senior Solicitor, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality legal advice and services across the organisation, with a particular focus on employment law.
Reporting to the Principal Solicitor, you will operate within the legal team (and the organisation's broader Integrity and Assurance function), as well as working closely with the organisation's People and Culture teams.
Your responsibilities will include providing specialised, timely, and accurate legal advice; supporting the organisation's People and Culture teams with employment law matters (including liaising with external counsel when needed); contributing to major legal projects and initiatives; building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; helping to enhance understanding of legal risks and obligations throughout the organisation; and more.
Ko koe tenei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring : A Bachelor of Laws and current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).
At least 5 years' PQE, which includes a strong foundation in employment law.
A broad base of other legal experience, potentially spanning public and administrative law, information law, privacy law, commercial law, and regulation.
A sound understanding of the in-house public sector environment.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide pragmatic, practical advice.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including the capacity to engage, influence and advise stakeholders at all levels.
An understanding of how Te Tiriti o Waitangi applies within the public service, and a commitment to learning and growing your understanding of Tikanga, Te Reo, and Te Ao Maori.
