About the Role
As a Senior Product Manager you will support and shape key internal engineering initiatives.
You will work with engineers to build or deliver solutions to other engineering teams, shape solution design, set best practices, and engage teams to support adoption.
You may need to engage with third-party vendors to ensure alignment and drive improvements.
Your impact will be measured by key engineering success metrics.
You will work autonomously where appropriate with the leadership team and peers.
This opportunity requires deep technical knowledge of the software development lifecycle, generative AI impacts, and its application at Xero.
What You'll Do
Work directly with internal customers (software engineers) to research, collect insights or validate understanding.
Build relationships with broader product and engineering teams, influence without authority, and collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders and senior leadership.
Participate in developing strategy for engineering-focused products and tooling to help realise Xero's technical goals.
Develop roadmaps with support from your teams to execute the strategy, delivering value iteratively and rapidly.
Take responsibility for managing risks arising from non-functional concerns including security, privacy, regulatory change and compliance, accuracy, responsible data use, and availability.
Monitor and analyse the ongoing performance of a product from a commercial and customer perspective.
Be comfortable and adaptable to a fast-moving environment, keeping up with industry trends.
Regularly liaise and engage with third-party vendors to support adoption of their tools, identify risks, and support required features.
What You'll Bring
A background in working on software engineering problems, particularly in cloud-based environments (AWS).
Experience in agile processes, defining user stories, and managing work backlogs.
Experience defining product roadmaps and supporting long-term planning.
Strong communication skills that adapt to the right audience, clearly and concisely.
Preference for experience in rolling out and supporting generative AI and agentic tools.
Knowledge of using feedback and data to inform decision making, articulating clear outcomes through company and team metrics.
Able to bring together multiple views and inputs and turn them into requirements to support product development.
