Overview
The Strategic Planning team plays a central role in shaping the future of Auckland Airport and articulating the business' 30-year vision.
It oversees Auckland Airport's Master Plan and provides strategic advice in relation to transportation and sustainability, to enable the growth of the Airport and to maintain a social licence to operate.
The team also plays a key role in developing and advocating Auckland Airport's position within regulatory and legislative policy contexts at a local and central government level.
The team is responsible for managing Auckland Airport's approach to road network planning, access design, and traffic operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, passengers, and freight to and from the airport.
The role focuses on integrating key landside infrastructure such as terminal forecourts, car parks, public transport facilities, and freight access roads, as well as optimising traffic flows within and around the airport precinct.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities are :
Providing direction on modelling (macro- and micro-simulation).
Interpreting and challenging modelling outputs.
Data analysis and reporting.
Conduct traffic impact assessments and feasibility studies.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project outcomes.
Ensure compliance with local and national codes and standards.
Provide technical advice and support to project teams.
Develop and implement long-term planning strategies.
Prepare reports and presentations on transport planning projects and proposals for senior management and stakeholders.
Participation in and directing the production of high-quality exhibits, documents and presentations to communicate the results of the planning study elements.
What you'll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need :
Degree qualifications in Civil or Traffic Engineering
3-5 years of proven experience in traffic planning, transport design
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and negotiation
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and PDF software (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.)
Ability to learn and adapt quickly to an ever-changing industry
Written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
Well-developed skills as a team contributor, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines
Familiarity with SCATS or similar traffic signal control systems
