As a Category Manager – Fleet & Milk Collection, you'll lead the strategic procurement and category management of Fonterra's fleet and milk collection related spend.
While direct fleet or transport experience is advantageous, the priority is strong procurement capability—someone who can operate independently, manage commercial arrangements, build strong and effective stakeholder relationships, and extract value across complex categories.
You'll be responsible for developing and executing category strategies across fleet acquisition, maintenance, consumables, and milk transport while managing supplier relationships and driving commercial outcomes.
This role partners closely with operational teams to ensure procurement strategies are aligned with business needs.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement category strategies that deliver commercial value and operational efficiency.Lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities across fleet-related categories (acquisition, maintenance, parts, consumables), and milk transport.Manage relationships and performance for key suppliers.Negotiate commercial agreements and ensure procurement activities comply with policy and governance standards.Monitor market trends and supply risks, and develop mitigation strategies.Partner with logistics and operational stakeholders to align procurement with business needs.Drive continuous improvement and innovation in procurement practices.About YouYou'll bring deep procurement expertise and the ability to operate autonomously in a complex environment.
You're commercially astute, confident in managing supplier relationships, and capable of delivering strategic outcomes.Extensive experience in procurement or category management, ideally in complex or asset-heavy environments.Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.Ability to manage supplier performance and drive value through strategic sourcing.Experience with fleet or transport related categories is a bonus but not essential.Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.MCIPS or equivalent certification preferred.Minimum 10 years of strategic procurement experience.Our ValuesAt Fonterra, our values of Good Together, Better Every Day, and Every Drop Counts, are for everyone – no matter your background, identity or experience.
