Communications Manager – Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the Communications Manager will drive the development and delivery of strategic communications that support Avanti's business objectives across New Zealand and Australia. In this role, you’ll lead our content strategy, crafting high‑quality communications focused on financial literacy, product positioning, and thought leadership that engages our key stakeholders – including staff, shareholders, customers, and our introducer network.
What you will expect to do
- Exceptional writing ability across short and long‑form content for financial services – this is the core skill for the role.
- Support the marketing team with all writing needs, working across the organisation from executives to front‑line staff to deliver internal and external communications.
- Develop thought leadership and digital content that elevates our market presence, fosters media relationships, and maximises earned media opportunities.
- Contribute to the communications strategy, identifying content themes, responding to market changes, and improving financial literacy among customers and introducers.
- Create and manage digital content including blogs, case studies, website updates, customer lifecycle comms, newsletters and eDMs (experience with CMS and email platforms like Cumulo9 essential).
- Collaborate with the Designer to maintain all collateral and uplift operational documents (letters, emails, SMS templates), ensuring content is accurate, on‑brand and easy to understand.
- Monitor social media and online reputation, maintaining platforms with a continuous improvement mindset and responding to Google Reviews promptly.
- Track, report and optimise all communications activity, maintaining marketing process guides and following brand guidelines.
- Support broader marketing initiatives and cross‑functional projects as needed.
What we look for in the successful candidate
7+ years in corporate communications or content writing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating effective internal and external communications.Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills – this is non‑negotiable.Technical proficiency with MS Teams, SharePoint, Viva Engage, social platforms, email marketing software, CMS and video editing tools.Confident stakeholder engagement across all levels of the organisation, with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.Proactive self‑starter who thrives managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.Adaptable and curious, with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to learn quickly.Collaborative, hands‑on approach – you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and get things done.Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field (preferred).Financial services experience is highly desirable.What's in it for me?
