About this role :

We have an opportunity for a Finance Team Leader - Planning & Reporting to join our Finance Team!

In this role, you will lead the financial planning and performance functions that support informed decision-making, help the Council achieve its objectives, and deliver meaningful guidance to budget managers and the broader organisation.

What I do?

Lead the production of financial insights, reports, and key documentation like the Long Term Plan, Annual Plans and Annual Report.

Coordinate annual budgeting and financial forecasts across Council.

Provide robust financial advice, analyse financial results, and identify risks in a timely and accurate manner.

Develop team members, set clear goals, and foster a positive work environment.

Build a cohesive and high-performing team with succession planning.

Drive innovation and improve systems and processes to reduce costs and enhance productivity.

Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What I bring?

A Chartered Accountant certification or be member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accounts or equivalent.

Extensive financial / management accounting background (10+ years) or Financial Leadership experience (5+ years).

Experience with Technology One software.

An understanding of Local Government funding and financing mechanisms e.g. Council reserve accounting, development contributions, rates, subsidies etc.

Strong analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on strategic decision making and risk management.

Hours of work : 40 Hours per week
