About the RoleWe have a fixed term full time opportunity within our Northern Regional team as aSenior Practitioner.In this role you will be responsible for contributing :to the achievement of the Smokefree 2025 vision by providing intensive smoking cessation support to individuals, whanau and other groups within the Counties Manukau districtto providing training and mentoring function for the Stop Smoking Service staffto providing other service coordination functions, as part of the Counties Manukau Health Living Smokefree Service; andto reducing the persistent population health inequities that are associated with high smoking prevalence rates in Counties Manukau by taking a population health and holistic wellbeing approach that is responsive and client / whanau-ledThe position contributes to the overarching organisational vision of a Smokefree Counties Manukau by 2025 (5% prevalence or less across all groups) and Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities.About the Team / Service / LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About youYou are an experienced practitioner in population health, health education, or a similar, with a passion for smoking cessation and holistic wellbeing.You are experienced in providing support to project staff that enables them to deliver intensive and informal smoking cessation support in line with current Ministry of Health standards, best practice, and service goals
