Translation & Interpretation Lead, Centre for Pacific Languages | Auckland, New Zealand | Full-Time | Fixed Term
Are you passionate about Pacific languages and cultural preservation? Do you have a strong background in translation and interpretation, and a desire to lead impactful language initiatives? The Centre for Pacific Languages is seeking a dynamic and experienced Translation & Interpretation Lead to champion our mission of revitalising and promoting Pacific languages through high-quality linguistic services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of translation and interpretation services across multiple Pacific languages.
- Manage a team of language professionals and coordinate freelance interpreters and translators.
- Ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural integrity, and consistency across all translated materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including individuals, communities, and clients across a broad range of agencies, organisations, and institutions.
- Develop and provide strategic input into language initiatives, ensuring that quality assurance is paramount.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee translation & interpretation projects from initiation to delivery.Maintain and grow a network of qualified Pacific language experts.Develop and maintain glossaries, style guides, and linguistic resources.Support interpreting services for events, meetings, and public engagements.Monitor and evaluate service quality and client satisfaction.Advocate for Pacific language use in public and professional settings.About You
You will bring :
Proven experience in translation and interpretation (minimum 5 years preferred).Strong leadership and project management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Pacific languages.Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel).Finance background in invoicing and PO processes.A deep understanding of Pacific cultures and values.Why Join Us?
