You are full of imagination, commissioning sharp reporting that resonates with a NZ audience.You WillDrive a steady flow of journalism that is original, ambitious, and unmistakably Stuff.Lead a team of commissioned reporters and editors, setting clear expectations and upholding the highest editorial standards.Champion creativity and storytelling that goes beyond the daily cycle and shapes national conversations.Work alongside senior newsroom leaders to plan and deliver coverage of the biggest issues facing New Zealand.Harness AI and emerging technologies to support originality, idea generation, and smarter workflows, freeing journalists to focus on the work only they can do.Ensure legal and ethical practices are followed, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Be comfortable using data to inform and support your commissioning decisions.You'll BringSignificant experience in newsroom leadership, ideally within a fast-paced national setting.Outstanding editorial judgement and a strong understanding of what matters to New Zealanders.A record of commissioning and editing award-winning, multi-platform content.An informed and curious approach to AI-assisted journalism, with a willingness to experiment and establish best practices in the ethical use of new tools.Confidence in using audience data and metrics to drive editorial decisions.Excellent grasp of media law, ethical standards, and digital-first journalism.A collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills.Commitment to growing and developing talent, particularly emerging journalists.Why Stuff?
