The opportunity - Te turangaWe're looking for a sharp, curious, and passionate reporter to uncover and deliver stories that inform, inspire, and engage.In this role as a Reporter - Breakfast, based in our Wellington newsroom, you will be responsible for identifying and reporting engaging, accurate, and balanced stories.Your focus will be on : Generate Exclusive Stories : Plan, pitch, and produce exclusive and original stories specifically for Breakfast, collaborating with Editors and Executive Producers (EPs) to ensure these stories can also be utilized across other TVNZ linear and digital platforms.Fast and Accurate Reporting : Consistently deliver fast, accurate, and fair journalism, reflecting the highest standards of reporting in line with TVNZ's editorial policies.Audience Engagement : Develop story ideas that resonate with audiences across the lower North and upper South regions of New Zealand.Storytelling Excellence : Translate complex stories into accessible narratives using strong storytelling skills suitable for diverse audience segments.Production and Delivery : Produce high-quality live segments, packages, and scripts within specified timelines and durations.Multi-platform Storytelling : Utilize TVNZ's News+ platform to expand storytelling opportunities across various digital platforms, including blogs and authored pieces based on specialized knowledge.Collaboration and Communication : Clearly communicate story requirements to Editors, EPs, and field crews, ensuring seamless execution and coordination.Ethical and Legal Standards : Maintain awareness of legal and ethical considerations related to story development, promptly escalating any issues or concerns as needed.What we're looking for - Ta matou e kimi neiYou'll be brimming with ideas and you'll have the ability to produce and present compelling, reliable and accurate stories for our viewers, across all our platforms and programmes.
You must have a positive attitude, a passion for news and current affairs and the ability to perform live on air.We are looking for someone that has proven experience (2-3 years at least) in broadcast journalism and news production.
A keen interest in general news would be advantageous.You'll know what it's like to work in a fast paced, future focused newsroom.
A desire to work hard is essential and you'll need to be a morning person - early starts are mandatory!
