Are you passionate about making library collections more discoverable and accessible? We’re looking for a skilled cataloguer to join our collaborative team and help shape how our diverse collections are described and accessed by our community.
As a Cataloguer, you’ll apply your expertise to the variety and challenges of managing collections in a large public library. Your day-to-day work will involve creating catalogue records for new library materials and enhancing access to existing collection items. While there’s a strong focus on non-fiction, you’ll work across all collection areas, including specialist formats such as Music, World Languages, eResources, and Zines.
You’ll be part of a supportive team that values innovation, collaboration, and keeping the end user at the heart of everything we do.
This role is currently based at our Collection and Distribution Centre, Te Pātaka, in Johnsonville, but we’re excited to be moving into the refurbished Te Matapihi Central Library early next year, giving you the opportunity to work in a vibrant central city location. This is a fixed term full-time position until 31st March 2026.
You will have strong attention to detail, as well as a commitment to keeping up with changes in the wider cataloguing world.

o Original cataloguing across different languages and formats.
o Experience cataloguing using standards and tools including RDA, MARC, DDC, LCSH
o Experience cataloguing non-traditional collection items, such as Zines.
o Knowledge and application of Ngā Upoko Tukutuku (Māori Subject Headings) is an advantage.
We are looking to appoint from $76,778 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.
