About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Power Technician to join a respected energy and network services provider supporting customers across the Bay of Plenty and across the Motu.
In this hands‑on role, you’ll deliver specialist technical services across protection, control, and communication systems supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of network and generation assets. You’ll work on a variety of projects, from substation maintenance and upgrades to fibre and SCADA installations, contributing to the performance of one of New Zealand’s most progressive distribution and contracting operations.
You’ll also play a key part in strengthening long‑term customer relationships through quality workmanship, safety leadership, and professional service delivery.

Undertake testing, maintenance, and commissioning of HV / LV protection, control, and communications systemsPerform inspection, servicing, and fault investigation on network and substation assetsCarry out LV / MV cable terminations and jointingSupport integration of SCADA, PLC, load control, and fibre‑optic communication systemsProvide technical input on system design, installation, and upgrade workParticipate in network operations and standby rosters as requiredEnsure all activities meet regulatory, quality, and health & safety standardsContribute to effective planning, documentation, and continuous improvement initiativesWhat You’ll Bring
NZ Registered Electrician or equivalent trade qualificationWorking towards or holding a qualification in Electrical / Electronic / Communications Engineering (or equivalent experience)2–5 years’ experience in power distribution, generation, or related electrical workStrong technical knowledge of protection, SCADA, PLC, and communication systemsUnderstanding of HV / LV network operations, substation equipment, and fault responseFamiliarity with IP‑based technology, VHF / UHF radio, and fibre‑optic systemsProven safety awareness and adherence to industry best practiceExcellent communication skills and a commitment to collaborative teamworkCurrent NZ Manual Driver’s LicenceTo Apply
