We're expanding our team and are looking for five skilled Formwork (Concrete) Carpenters who take pride in their craft.
This is a permanent full-time position, and you are required to work at least 30 hours per week between Monday and Saturday.The Formwork Carpenter plays a critical role in delivering high-quality foundation works, including footings, slabs, pile caps, retaining walls, and structural concrete elements.
The position is responsible for the full life cycle of formwork construction—from planning and measurement to installation, bracing, pouring support, and formwork stripping.
The role requires strong technical ability, accuracy, and a deep understanding of concrete behaviour and structural requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Formwork & Concrete Support
- Build, install, and align formwork for concrete footings, slabs on grade, pile caps, grade beams, and foundation walls.
- Measure, cut, and assemble timber, plywood, and formwork materials according to drawings and specifications.
- Set out formwork positions using levels, laser tools, and site measurements.
- Install bracing, falsework, and support structures to ensure form stability.
- Strip and dismantle formwork after concrete curing while protecting structural integrity.
- Ensure formwork is clean, properly oiled, and ready for concrete pouring.
2. Site Preparation & Coordination
Collaborate with steel fixers, excavator operators, and concrete crews during foundation works.Assist with installing temporary works such as ramps, platforms, barriers, and edge protection.Support site teams in preparing foundations, including trenching areas, form checks, and alignment.3. Quality & Compliance
Read and interpret engineering plans, shop drawings, and construction details.Confirm formwork dimensions, elevations, and reinforcement clearances before concrete placement.Inspect installed formwork to ensure compliance with structural and safety requirements.4. Health & Safety
Follow all company safety policies and site-specific health and safety plans.Identify hazards, maintain clean work areas, and use tools and equipment safely.Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions.Qualifications :
At least 2 years of relevant experience as a carpenter in construction or similar industries ORRelevant qualification at NZQA Level 4 or higherStrong knowledge of materials, tools, and techniquesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExcellent problem-solving skillsPhysical fitness and a commitment to safety
