What you'll do with your time
The West Coast location offers amazing lifestyle and recreational activity opportunities, professional challenges, and opportunities.
If you love the rural setting and the great outdoors, then this is the role for you.
Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services are seeking applications from psychiatrists interested in working in a rural health setting.
The ongoing development of rural specialties and efforts to progress integrated services across the Coast offer the opportunity to help design sustainable services for the future.
There is also an opportunity to join the Rural Special Interest group of the RANZCP.
The WCDHB mental health service is small but agile.
You will be part of a team of several psychiatrists (5 FTE) working collegially with a stable and experienced workforce to provide specialist services to a population of approximately 32,000 people.
We have systems in place to support collegial relationships and professional development, and we're always open to exploring new ideas.
Rural services require a high degree of flexibility, as the work is diverse.
The role is essentially for a generalist and may include responsibilities for aspects of general adult psychiatry (community and inpatient), addictions, older persons, and child and adolescent services.
The exact clinical responsibilities will be negotiated based on your experience, interests, and the needs of the Service.
