The Crown Response Senior Advisor is a new role designed to support the Archives New Zealand programme to improve the management and accessibility of records across the care system.

It will be essential to the Crown meeting its commitment to empower those in care, their families, whanau and communities by improving care recordkeeping and care records access.

We are seeking applicants with extensive experience and knowledge across several areas :

• archival and / or information management theory and practice
• the Public Records Act 2005 and other relevant legislation
• the application of digital technology in information management
• care records issues for care experienced people and in care agencies
• the development of services and advice
• operating with Māori stakeholders and information
• risks identification and mitigation
• excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills.

You will ensure our effectiveness through developing and implementing key programme components including a care records helpdesk for agencies, as well as relationship building with other regulatory and standard setting organisations. You will be instrumental in identifying and advancing archival transfers of care records to facilitate easier access for the care experienced. You’ll also help to implement the new approaches to the authorised disposal and transfer of care records. There will also be a need to contribute to strategic planning to ensure that our resources are applied to the right care records improvement activities.

The person filling this role will work to the Specialist Advisor Crown Response Programme in providing strategic leadership and coordination of recordkeeping regulation and practice advice.

The Partnerships and Commissions branch of DIA is responsible for a diverse portfolio of national institutions, commissions, Executive and community-based services. The branch oversees and supports the National Library and Archives New Zealand, Hāpai Hapori – Community Operations, and Ministerial Services who provide a range of services to the Prime Minister and the Executive. The branch oversees various commissions including royal commissions, ministerial inquiries and those established through legislation (Local Government Commission, Gambling Commission).
