The Editor will identify, analyze, and distill essential legal developments from news sources, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with editorial guidelines.

• Editor, Current Awareness
• , you will :
• Conduct targeted internet searches to identify relevant news items across multiple legal subject areas.
• Analyze and summarize critical information from news sources, focusing on accuracy, impartiality, and clarity.
• Create original, compelling headlines and paraphrase news content into concise, 60-word summaries.
• Ensure all items reference original sources, avoid direct copying (except quotations), and are written for both legal and lay audiences.
• Apply editorial standards, including political neutrality and appropriate handling of sensitive information (e.g., use of "alleged" in criminal matters, anonymizing minors).
• Assign and complete all required Alert24 metadata fields, including record type, subject date, embargo date, organizations / people, topics, jurisdiction, and status.
• Perform final proofreading and spell-checking of all summaries.
• Demonstrates strong technical skills and effectively uses generative AI and other tools to improve productivity and accuracy.

Adapts to various projects and emerging technologies

• Load and publish news items within the Alert24 system.
• About You
• You are a fit for the role of Editor, Current Awareness if your background includes :
• A Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field.
• Experience in legal, news, or current awareness publishing environments.
• Exceptional summarization, writing, and editing skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze complex information quickly and communicate it clearly to both legal and lay audiences.
• Familiarity with editorial standards for impartiality and responsible reporting, especially in criminal and family law.
• Competence in using online research tools and content management systems.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Adaptability and a collaborative approach to achieving team and company goals.
