Community Support Worker - Home Support

Location : Auckland (New Lynn).

Part-time, 32 hours per week.

Very High Needs (VHN) is a community-based service focused on inclusion, personal development, and socially valued roles.

Each person is in control of their life and has flexible 1 : 1 support tailored to their needs and goals.

Our staff support people to live an everyday life in local communities, providing support for accessing mainstream activities such as concerts and rugby games.

The role is largely comprised of casual hours with opportunities Auckland-wide.

Responsibilities

In partnership with families, our VHN staff will help people towards achieving their goals, including :

Accessing mainstream services in the community (joining local clubs and teams, attending community / cultural events)

Independent living and social skills (handling money, learning public transport, seeking volunteer roles, making friends)

Educational goals (finding suitable courses, enrolling in classes)

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have :

A full driver's licence

Experience supporting people with disabilities and / or challenging behaviours

Strong communication and commitment to building long-lasting, reliable relationships with the people you support and their families

Sufficient fitness for an active role that may involve sports and recreational activities

The ability to use technology effectively to communicate with the team and help people connect with communities and interests

Eligibility for Non-Resident Applicants

If you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements :

Have worked in the care workforce for 3 years or more, and been paid at least the care workforce wage rate during that time

Or hold a relevant qualification on the NZQCF – at least a Level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2
