Community Support Worker - South AucklandCommunity Support Worker - ResidentialFull time - 40 hours per week$

  • per hourSouth Auckland LocationAt Spectrum Care, we provide support for adults with intellectual and / or physical disabilities to live great lives.As a Community Support Worker you take on tasks that are dynamic and will depend on the needs and dreams of each person.

You willprovide assistance with personal activities such as community participation, socialising, work or education and daily living tasks.Skills & ExperienceEmpathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disabilityEnergy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lotAbility to remain calm, and calming, in all situationsResilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safetyGood at explaining and negotiatingAbility to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you supportAbility and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skillsExcellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this roleThe ideal candidate will have : An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification- we can support you to achieve this while you workExperience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and / or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessaryReliability, commitment, and passion for working with peopleA full New Zealand driver's licenceAble to pass a NZ police checkThe ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and emailIf you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements to be considered :

  • Have worked in the care workforce for3 years or more, and been paid at least the care workforce wage rate during that time, or
  • A relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.Apply now if you have a passion for working with people and want to make a difference!
