Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher to join our team.

You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, delivering engaging lessons, and fostering a love for literature and language.

Responsibilities

Delivering curriculum aligned with national guidelines and school policies.

Monitoring student progress and providing timely, effective assessment and feedback.

Maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom that encourages participation.

Literacy Expertise : A strong grasp of Literacy across the curriculum, with the ability to teach senior-level NCEA literacy courses (Years

• ).

Highly Collaborative Practice : Proven effectiveness working within a team, enriching collective planning with wide subject knowledge.

Resourceful and Adaptive Teaching : Excellent ability to resource and adapt lessons, including integrating place-based learning (e.g. local context for classic texts).

Culturally Responsive Pedagogy : A deep commitment to culturally responsive practice to build strong, high-expectation relationships with students and their wider whanau, teaching from a place of care.

Reflective Practice : A clear commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.

Experience using inquiry and questioning : to further student critical thinking is highly valued, as is extra-curricular involvement.

Qualifications and offer

You must have a relevant teaching qualification and current registration with the New Zealand Teaching Council, along with proven secondary English teaching experience, and a passion for your subject.
