General Salary Range B : starting salary $138,938 to $170,851 depending on skills and experience
About the Role
This role—and the team you'll lead—plays a critical part in the ongoing evolution and delivery of Fisheries New Zealand's On-board Cameras Programme.
As Manager Electronic Monitoring, you'll drive the evolution of our electronic monitoring capability, ensuring it remains innovative, efficient, and responsive to the needs of MPI, our customers, and stakeholders.
You'll lead improvements in technology, data workflows, and operational procedures to deliver greater efficiency and value.
Your focus will be on leading a high-performing team, streamlining processes, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
You'll act as a key influencer and thought leader promoting the benefits of electronic monitoring and ensuring the service remains at the forefront of innovation.
About You
Are you a seasoned Programme / Project Manager with a passion for delivering strategic technology initiatives that make a real impact?
Or perhaps you're from an operational background and bring with you a keen understanding of the importance of privacy and quality assurance?
We're looking for a self-starter who thrives in complex environments, embraces agile delivery, and can bring cross-functional teams together to achieve continuous improvement and improved business outcomes.
You'll be the strategic leader for the programme; identifying and driving technology enhancements and transforming business processes.
You'll be adept at managing risk and ensuring all work is delivered within agreed timeframes and budgets, and aligned with on-going business objectives.
Additionally, you'll oversee day-to-day electronic monitoring operations and, with support from two team leaders, foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
What We're Ideally Looking For
Demonstrated experience leading people change through transformational projects
Strong project management experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Experience working within government agencies to develop policy and operational processes
Proven skills in budgeting, governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement
Experience driving technology improvements that maintain a modern and effective service
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to lead from the front
A commitment to privacy and maintaining a high standard of assurance

About the Team
The Manager Electronic Monitoring oversees a team of approximately 15 staff with 2–3 direct reports.
The role of the Manager is to provide direction and oversight of activities, alongside a focus on team performance and development.
Team members are located in both Nelson and Wellington and are predominantly conducting video footage review functions for the on-board cameras programme.
Your success will be your ability to bring people together, influence and to enhance our technology and processes.
