Overview

As a Senior Accountant at Public Trust, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the legacies of New Zealanders by providing expert accounting and tax services for Estates, Trusts, PA / PPPRs, and Charities. You will collaborate with Trustees to deliver professional services and exceptional customer experiences. Your expertise will also help develop and mentor other accountants within the team. This role involves preparing financial accounts, offering technical tax advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

You are a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in handling accounting and tax matters. You thrive on challenges and are a natural problem solver. Your strong communication skills enable you to build effective relationships with stakeholders.

  • You hold a tertiary qualification in accountancy, taxation, commerce, or a related field.
  • You are possibly a chartered accountant
  • Experience in Trust accounting is desirable
  • You excel at prioritising tasks and meeting targets
  • Your interpersonal skills are strong, allowing you to build professional relationships
  • You have experience in Tier 3 & above charity accounting
  • Ability to train, mentor, and motivate others

Responsibilities

  • You provide professional accounting and tax advice to Trustees
  • You complete complex accounting calculations for distributions
  • You meet or exceed SLAs when handling referrals
  • You share knowledge and provide support to accountants
  • You deliver efficient and effective services for customers
  • You capture learnings to inform improvements in accounting practices
  • You achieve or exceed weekly targets
