About the role
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Clinical Lead - Senior
Medical Officer to join our Radiology Service across Capital, Coast and Hutt
Valley.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-performing team while
helping shape the future of diagnostic imaging in Aotearoa.
As part of our digital innovation journey, Capital, Coast and Hutt
Valley will soon host two of New Zealand - s first Photon Counting CT (PCCT)
scanners - arriving at Kenepuru Hospital next month and Wellington Hospital early
next year.
This advanced technology will transform cardiac, neuro, vascular and
Paediatric diagnostics, delivering sharper scans and revealing subtle
abnormalities previously undetectable.
This is more than a leadership role - it - s a chance to be part of a
transformational shift in how we deliver care, harnessing digital tools to
support clinical excellence and improve patient outcomes.
Leadership responsibilities will be shared with participation as a
diagnostic or interventional Radiologist.

Radiology Service operates across Wellington Regional Hospital, a tertiary
center, and Kenepuru Hospital, offering a wide range of diagnostic and
interventional imaging.
The team includes Consultant Radiologists, Registrars,
MITs, and Sonographers, with a strong emphasis on teaching, professional
growth, and regional collaboration.
Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region.
We operate three hospitals - Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua - as well as the Kapiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.

You are a proven clinical leader with a passion for excellence in patient care and service development.
While a background in Radiology is preferred, it is not essential - your leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and commitment to equity in healthcare are what truly set you apart.
If you are a Radiologist, you will hold vocational registration in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ), and Fellowship with RANZCR or an equivalent qualification.
Subspecialty expertise - such as musculoskeletal (MSK), interventional, paediatrics, or breast imaging - is highly valued.
You thrive in collaborative environments, champion quality improvement initiatives, and are driven to make a meaningful impact across clinical services.
Your ability to inspire teams, lead change, and advocate for equitable outcomes makes you an ideal fit for this pivotal role.
