About the role
We're on the hunt for a dynamic Senior Process Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in optimising operational efficiency, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring product quality throughout the manufacturing of our nutritional powders. As part of this exciting role, you'll also support key projects that drive new product development, guiding products from the manufacturing stage all the way to commercialisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and expand your knowledge across food, dairy, and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role is a full-time permanent role working a guaranteed minimum 40 hours per week, based in Dunsandel Christchurch. You'll be joining a team which can provide great learning and growth potential.
Key responsibilities of this role include
- Optimize manufacturing process by reviewing functional statements and project information to enhance yield, productivity, and throughput.
- Review operational data and production schedules and costs to determine optimum equipment efficiencies
- Designing mechanical equipment, machines, components, products for manufacture. Lead the process engineering components of New Product Development (NPD) projects, ensuring scalable, efficient, and compliant manufacturing processes from concept to launch.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure consistent and stable operations
- Review Technical Functional Specification / Description and update as required to optimise process
- Inspecting plant and reviewing trends to ensure optimum performance is maintained
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives, identifying and eliminating waste, reducing variation, and enhancing process efficiency and consistency.
- Work on sustainability projects such as CIP Improvement, water and energy conservation
- Support design review of new equipment or plants
- Represent the organisation in technical discussions with auditors, customers, and other external stakeholders, providing expert insight into process capabilities, controls, and improvements.
- Serve as a role model for Process Engineers, demonstrating excellence in both technical expertise and professional conduct. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to process engineers while upholding high standards in communication, collaboration, ethics, and continuous learning
Skills And Experience
We are looking for experienced Senior Process Engineer or Process Engineer who have the following skills.
You will have 5 + years previous experience in Process Engineering or similar.A bachelor’s degree in Dairy Technology or similar preferred.Previous experience and excellent understanding in Evaporators and Spray Dryers is essential for this role.Medium-Large scale Project Management experience preferred.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex process issues.Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis for performance improvement.Basics of Food and Dairy technologyPrevious experience of Liquid UHT Operations would be preferred.Technical expertise of CIP Systems in Dairy Industry would be preferred.What we offer

The salary for this role will be between $110,000 to $130,000.
