Overview

Senior Engineer - Power Systems, Commissioning and Testing role with Transpower's System Operator. Work from Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton or Christchurch. Collaborate with Electricity Industry Participants to commission new generation and examine existing and future power system risks and technologies to support secure and reliable operation.

The Opportunity

Working with a live power system, you will face an exciting daily challenge. You will build relationships across Transpower and with our customers—generation asset owners, distribution network owners and industrial users connected to the Grid. Your critical thinking, judgement and ability to communicate and influence will be exercised, deepening your understanding of the inter-connectivity of the electricity industry.

• Support the Engineering Assurance team to guide participants on their compliance with the Electricity Industry Participation Code, particularly generation asset owners, and manage System Operator interactions with commissioning and testing assets and investigate power system events.
• Develop and support engineers within the Group by proactively participating in, and leading, training and coaching opportunities to uplift technical and behavioural capabilities and competencies.

Your mahi will have direct impact towards keeping the lights on for Aotearoa New Zealand every day and into the future.
