About the role
We are currently seeking Trainee or Phlebotomist candidates, with opportunities available in both our Christchurch Laboratory and Ashburton location.
This is a casual position with variable hours.
The successful candidates will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.
Training will be provided for the right applicants, making this an excellent opportunity for those looking to start or grow their career in healthcare within a supportive and professional team.
Our Patient Services Department is responsible for collecting blood samples and handling contained specimens (e.g., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue) from patients in the community and hospital settings.
These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.
About you
To be successful in this role you need to have :
The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
Customer focus and commitment to providing a high quality of service to internal and external customers with effective interpersonal skills.
A sound knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory operations including safety, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience is desirable, but not essential.
Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential.
Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Patient Services is desirable, but not essential.
A valid New Zealand full or restricted driver's license.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
