Deputy Ward Manager

Working as a Ward Sister to provide effective patient care whilst working as a member of the nursing team across East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust.
To ensure the maintenance of high standards of patient care in response to service needs.
This is a post consisting of day and night shifts.
Main duties of the job
Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG, Verification of Death, IV Drugs and HLS, good Communication skills.
Facilitating Staff development and empowerment.
Negotiation.
The ability to converse at ease with patients, doctors and relatives, and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Qualifications and Training
Degree in Nursing
NMC
Preparation of mentors or equivalent
Clinical Skills and experience
Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG, Verification of DEath, IV Drugs and HLS.
Facilitating staff development and empowerment
Negotiation Skills
The ability to converse at ease with patients, doctors and relatives and provide advice in accurate spoken English
Health & Safety
ILS
Having difficult conversations

Risk Management issues
Key issues and developments in nursing
Quality improvement tools and ward metrics
Previous experience of undertaking appraisals, managing staff and sickness absence
Experience of surgical pathways
