Lead Data Engineer

We're seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join MAS and contribute to our future success as we continue to transform our data and analytics practice and build out our Modern Data Platform.

The Lead Data Engineer is an integral part of the Data & Analytics team, and is responsible for the design, management & implementation of complex data flows to connect MAS's operational systems with end users of curated reports and insights.

The role requires you to have 5+ years' experience in data engineering, and 2+ years in a leadership role.

We are searching for someone who is self-motivated, able to self-manage, thinks critically, and uses initiative. Do you have excellent communications skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team of data engineers? We want to hear from you!

This is a Wellington based position; strong applications from Auckland will also be considered.

What your day might look like

• Mentoring a dynamic data engineering team and actively managing collaboration with stakeholders.
• Lead the ongoing build and development of our Microsoft Fabric data platform.
• Optimise data pipelines and processes for improved performance and scalability.
• Proactively identify and troubleshoot data quality issues and implement solutions.
• Consulting on projects across the business where data design experience is required.
• Along with the Head of Data, develop & enforce compliance procedures internally in the team and across the business.
• Work across the Data & Analytics team to foster a culture of collaboration, setting the wider team up for success.
