Join to apply for the Senior Legal Counsel role at Robert WaltersAs the Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide expert advice and guidance on a broad range of complex legal issues.This is an exciting position to complement a small in-house function where you will have the opportunity to support the General Counsel and wider legal team to implement the legal strategy and contribute to this organisation's priorities and community outcomes.As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide expert advice and guidance on a broad range of complex legal issues relevant to local government.

This includes providing advice across a variety of legislation and risk areas, managing external body investigations and litigation, and instructing external providers.You will provide legal advice and assistance to staff across a range of teams with a focus on Property, Strategic Development, Resource Consents and Infrastructure, contributing to the management of risk and good decision-making across significant and complex projects for the local community.

In addition, you will assist in managing litigation and contract disputes with suppliers, contractors, property owners and ratepayers, developers, and other community organisations.You will be an experienced lawyer with a minimum of 7 years' post-admission experience with experience in property / commercial law being advantageous.

Ideally you will have government or local government experience with a litigation background.
