Te PapaWellington, New ZealandJob Description
Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. We've now also partnered with Wellington City Council to operate Tākina, Wellington's newest Convention and Exhibition Centre. Our Venues team is world-class, delivering the event operations and hospitality across both Te Papa and Tākina.
We are seeking Kitchen Porters to join our dynamic Venues Team on a casual ‘as and when required' basis. These positions are key operational support roles for our busy, fast paced Kitchen, completing deep cleaning tasks and lifting / carrying kitchen items and equipment. You will take pride in the level of hygiene and cleanliness that you provide. If you are great team player and want to be part of providing amazing events in some of Wellington's most iconic function venues, then this is the job opportunity for you.
Ideally you will have :
- The ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
- Basic food preparation and storage knowledge including HACCP principles
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen or catering operation
- Attention to detail and a good understanding of hygiene and cleaning practices
We operate 7 days a week and therefore your flexibility to work over a 7-day roster including Public Holidays and weekends are essential criteria, as is the flexibility to work in varying locations across Te Papa and Tākina. The work across our operation is busy, fast paced and in a fantastic, friendly team environment, so come join us!
The hourly rate for this position will be a minimum of $23.65.
If you have any questions about this role, please contact [email protected].
Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand.
Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
