We're looking for a practical, hands-on Operations Technician who's passionate about making a difference in their community by helping deliver safe and reliable waters services across our distri ct.

About this role In this role, you'll be the go-to person for responding to service requests related to Waters services, ensuring all actions meet policy, legislative, and compliance requirements.

You'll manage contractors, consultants, and staff from time to time, while also keeping an eye on budgets and project delivery within the Water Services space.

A key part of your role will involve planning and overseeing data collection programmes, monitoring network performance, and using that data to help guide decision-making.

You'll provide technical advice and direction to maintenance teams, supervise worksites for quality and health and safety, and monitor compliance with drinking water standards and resource consents.

You'll also support water loss detection and pressure management programmes, carry out asset condition assessments, respond to pollution incidents, and play a key role in emergency and Civil Defence responses.

From time to time, you may also deliver minor works and capital upgrades, ensuring everything is delivered on time, on budget, and to standard.

Skills and experience To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have a tertiary qualification in engineering or a construction-related field, or be actively working towards one.

Alternatively, at least five years' experience in water services operations or construction will be considered.

A solid understanding of network systems, practical problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach will be key to thriving in this position.
