Senior Test Analyst
to join our Insights & Analytics team.

You'll play a key role in ensuring our information data, analytics, and reporting products meet the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and reliability, supporting evidence-based decisions that help connect people, products, and places across New Zealand.

You'll test across modern BI platforms (Power BI, Qlik Sense, SSRS, Databricks), validate data pipelines and models, and help ensure our information products drive evidence-based decisionsAs a

Senior Test Analyst

, you will play a pivotal role in our team by undertaking a range of responsibilities including :

Test and assure quality in leading BI tools (PowerBI, Databricks, SSRS, Qlik Sense)

Plan, document, and report on testing activities

Use automation and test frameworks to streamline regression testing in modern cloud environments

Assess reporting solutions for accuracy, data quality, and business requirements

Collaborate with developers and business teams to deliver robust solutions

Identify and resolve data issues, supporting continuous improvement

Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance practices within the I&A team

Build strong relationships across the business and with external partnersYou will find a copy of the Position Description .

To thrive in this role, you'll need to demonstrate a strong blend of technical expertise, practical experience, and interpersonal skills, including :

5+ years' testing experience across diverse projects

Advanced SQL skills - ETL experience preferred

Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts (star schema, data vault)

Experience in defect management and test automation tools

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Relevant tertiary qualification or comparable experienceYou will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.The purpose of our group as a trusted advisor and working with others, is to :

Set and maintain

our strategic direction through Our road map – Te Ara ki Tua and its alignment and interaction with other relevant strategic direction (internal and external).

Lead

strategic Crown Maori partnerships to embed our commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi (Te Tiriti o Waitangi) and ensure appropriate consideration in our strategy and policy development.

Create

a sound evidence base for direction setting and decision-making, based on research, analytics, insights, intelligence, and monitoring performance.

Develop

strategic packages and programmes that improve the performance of the land transport system and provide outcome-focused, evidenced-based, clear, and stable investment direction leading to affordable investment decisions.

Inform

central and local government policy and strategic direction and identify the mid to long-term view of the land transport system.
