- The opportunity
- We’re seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our Maintenance team in Palmerston North. In this position, you will take the lead in overseeing multiple operational crews, while also contributing to hands-on tasks. Your focus will be on completing jobs efficiently and profitably, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.As a key member of our team, you’ll be responsible for mentoring and guiding staff, setting a strong example through your leadership. Your commitment to high standards and efficient work will help drive the success of our operations.
- In addition to the above you will :
- Participate in pre-start meetings and undertake risk planning prior to commencing work
- Oversee the plant and materials used by in-house teams
- Support the training of staff in the proper operation of machinery and equipment
- Ensure your team follows all Health & Safety policies and procedures

- We're looking for someone with :
- Minimum class 2 licence & WTR endorsements
- Experience and understanding of traffic management requirements on sites
- A background in road construction, pavement construction and earthworks
- Experience operating plant and machinery in a construction environment
- Flexibility and available for "on call" after hours work (rostered)
- Proven experience in leading crews
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- A can-do attitude and the ability to problem solve
- An unwavering commitment towards safety with a safety record to match
