Wall and Floor Tiler

TDS Project Management Limited is a construction and project management company based in Rotorua. We specialize in building and managing residential and commercial projects. We are currently looking for skilled Wall and Floor Tilers to join our team in Rotorua.

Location : Rotorua – You must arrange your own transportation to the construction sites (we reimburse travel costs).

Employment Type : Full-time, permanent

Hours : 30-40 hours per week (minimum of 30 hours guaranteed), Monday to Saturday

Hourly Rate : $25 to $30 per hour (based on qualifications and experience)

Start Date : Immediate start upon job offer

Tasks include :

Examine and interpret building plans, drawings, and specifications to determine tiling requirements.

Measure and mark surfaces to lay out tile placement accurately.

Plan and prepare for cutting and fitting tiles, including around fixtures, corners, and edges.

Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout, and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and thoroughly cleaning surfaces.

Spread adhesive onto prepared surfaces using appropriate tools, and press tiles into place for secure bonding.

Use hand tools or tile-cutting machines to cut and shape tiles as needed for corners, edges, and around objects such as fittings and pipes.

Ensure tiles are correctly aligned and spaced using spacers and leveling systems.

Apply grout between tiles after adhesive has set, clean off excess grout, and polish tiles to complete the finish.

Apply waterproofing systems to surfaces in wet areas, ensuring compliance with building codes and standards.

May lay floors made of granolithic, terrazzo, cement, or similar compositions.

May create decorative patterns or mosaics by laying coloured tiles in specific designs.

Requirements :

• At least two years of relevant experience, or a relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification in floor and wall tiling / building / costruction or any other relevant field
• Ability to arrange your own transportation
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and carpentry techniques
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Drug-free with a clean police certificate
