About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
As a Geospatial Analyst, you'll join our Geospatial team within the Data & Information group, part of the Business Technology & Information Services (BTIS) directorate. Your primary responsibility will be administering MPI's Geospatial platform and managing our core geospatial data assets, ensuring they are reliable and accessible across the organisation.
Our team enables MPI to source, manage, and use geospatial data effectively. We develop standards, frameworks, and structures that underpin geospatial data management. You'll work closely with business units to provide GIS applications and guidance, supporting a wide range of operational needs across MPI.
This role focuses on the technology side of geospatial work rather than analysis or cartography. You'll build apps, manage integrations, and create tools that enable field data capture and real‑time mapping. It's a hands‑on role with opportunities to learn, innovate, and continuously improve our platform and tools.

You bring an understanding of geospatial concepts and experience using GIS tools, ideally within the ESRI ArcGIS suite. While this role is suited to someone with practical experience, it's also a great opportunity for a graduate who is eager to learn and grow their career in geospatial technology. You're curious, adaptable, thrive on problem‑solving and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where requirements evolve.

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
Our Geospatial team is passionate about transforming data into actionable insights. We work collaboratively with all MPI business units to deliver fit‑for‑purpose geospatial solutions that support operational and strategic priorities. These solutions enable MPI to collect, visualise, and manage geospatial data effectively, helping us make informed decisions and deliver on our mission.
You’ll be the fifth member of a close‑knit team. We’re currently focused on a major project to modernise our platform, which brings variety and challenge to our work. The team is supportive, collaborative, and enjoys sharing knowledge through regular sessions and mentoring. We value teamwork, stretch goals, and creating a positive environment whether that’s collaborating online or catching up over lunch.
