Maintenance Planner based at the Otorohanga plant, supporting Wayne Trenning in coordinating, scheduling, and optimizing maintenance activities to ensure plant reliability and efficiency.

Purpose
The Maintenance Planner plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and well-coordinated maintenance activities across the Otorohanga Plant, Te Kuiti Plant, and Oparure Quarry.
Working alongside the Site Maintenance Lead, this position is responsible for planning corrective work, developing weekly maintenance schedules, and supporting shutdown planning.
By leveraging their trade or engineering background, the Maintenance Planner ensures all jobs are scoped, resourced, and scheduled to maximise wrench time and minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities :
Core Planning Activities :
Coordinate the development of weekly maintenance schedules across all three sites (who and when).
Develop detailed maintenance plans for work orders, working with the maintenance team to ensure all jobs are fully scoped and planned (what and how).
Collaborate with Production Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, and the Purchasing & Inventory Specialist to align planning and scheduling, including preparing work order job kits.
Develop and maintain standard procedures for recurring maintenance tasks.
Manage the backlog of maintenance work orders within the CMMS (JD Edwards), ensuring accuracy, prioritisation, and readiness for execution.
Support and coordinate contractors for weekly and shutdown maintenance activities.
Supporting Responsibilities :
Plan and prioritise corrective work by raising purchase requisitions, assigning parts from the Equipment Parts List (EPL), and ensuring parts are available for scheduling.
Assign and manage inventory items in JD Edwards, generating picking lists for the Inventory Specialist.
Monitor work order status in JD Edwards, particularly for priority 3 work orders.
Conduct scoping for each job, capturing details in JD Edwards and developing clear work instructions.
Use scoping sheets and team collaboration for complex work.
Engage contractors as needed to obtain detailed job scopes and cost estimates for work outside local maintenance capacity.
Capture equipment part information and update EPL records in JD Edwards.
Work with the Remote Planner to determine shutdown responsibilities and lead shutdown planning where assigned.
Participate in other company programs, training, and development activities as required.
Expected Outcomes
Work orders contain clear, detailed instructions to enable high wrench time for trades personnel.
All required parts and services are assigned and accurately costed to work orders.
Maintenance work orders are effectively kitted with required parts and documentation
Role Requirements
Essential (Trade or Engineering Pathway) :
Trade Qualification in Mechanical Fitting (or equivalent) OR Diploma in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
Significant experience in maintenance within lime / limestone processing or other heavy industry (hands-on or planning).
Proficiency in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), work order management, and Microsoft Office tools.
Experience in maintenance planning and / or scheduling in an operational environment.
Knowledge of spare parts and inventory management.
Experience working with and managing third-party contractors and suppliers.
Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO9001).
