The System Engineer is responsible for the setup, support, maintenance, and optimization of the company's Windows and Linux environments, ensuring operational stability, security, and compliance.
The role involves managing hybrid infrastructure (on-premises and cloud), implementing automation, and collaborating across teams to deliver a secure, scalable, and resilient IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, hardware, and third-party software (Windows and Linux).
Perform system upgrades, patching, and performance optimization to ensure efficiency and reliability.
Design, implement, and maintain file systems, storage, and backup / recovery solutions.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues; coordinate with vendors and stakeholders for timely resolution.
Administer and maintain enterprise antivirus, endpoint protection, and system hardening policies, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
Manage user identity and access controls across on-premises Active Directory, hybrid environments, and Azure Entra ID.
Maintain configuration management, documentation, and operational standards.
Implement and monitor disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
Automate system operations using scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and logs using observability tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
Support cloud and virtualization platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, VMware).
Ensure system security, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness (e.g., Cybertrust Mark Essential, ISO
Conduct and support system security audits, including third-party risk assessments, regulatory / compliance audits, and internal IT security reviews.
Operate and manage SIEM systems, such as ManageEngine, with experience in Microsoft Sentinel preferred.
Perform vulnerability assessments using Tenable and assist in remediation planning and execution.
Manage and monitor Privileged Access Security (PAS) using Silverfort or similar identity protection platforms.
Oversee endpoint protection and threat response with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing IT operations.
Participate in infrastructure projects, remediation efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
