Job descriptionMinimum 2–3 years of custodial experience, ideally in a women's prison, with strong operational knowledge and professional credibility. Advanced interpersonal skills to work with staff, managers, peers, and people in prison to promote reflection and growth. Proven facilitation skills and ability to translate theory into practice and provide constructive feedback. Planning and organising skills with strategic thinking and a big-picture view. Leadership qualities that inspire others, build capability, and promote a growth mindset.

Practice Leader - Custodial role at Department of Corrections NZ. Based at Arohata Prison in Tawa. Permanent position.
Responsibilities
- Lead trauma-informed, culturally responsive custodial practice.
- Support women in custodial environments and drive meaningful change.
- Facilitate regular reflective practice sessions with staff, in groups and one-on-one, promoting professional growth and adherence to legislative and Prison Operations Manual standards.
- Collaborate with site leaders to identify developmental needs and contribute to practice-focused discussions.

Benefits
Salary : midpoint of $87,132 per annum; full range (85-120%) $74,063 - $104,559 per annum. Appointment and remuneration reflect skills and experience.
