You will work as part of a connected team to deliver effective regulatory management through monitoring the compliance of transport service licence holders and drivers of heavy vehicles and passenger services.ResponsibilitiesThis is a great opportunity to undertake meaningful work in a collaborative environment.

In this role you will monitor and examine commercial transport operators, commercial driver licence and endorsement holders and produce robust reports for Operators and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

In addition, you will provide education to transport operators to assist them to comply and, when necessary take regulatory action to improve compliance.

Responsibilities include : Undertaking proactive assessments of licenced commercial transport operatorsApplying relevant recognised risk assessment practices to investigation and auditing processesDeveloping and managing effective relationships with assigned transport service licence holders and relevant key stakeholdersTravel is a key part of this role and you will be regularly engaging with operators in your operating area as and when required.

To be successful in this role, you will bring : Experience in systems-based thinking and analysisExperience in a regulatory, compliance and / or enforcement environmentDetailed understanding and experience of regulatory principles and practicesExperience in assessment (audit) planning, delivery and reportingStrong investigative, risk assurance or audit experienceThe ability to build relationships and appreciate different points of viewDemonstrated knowledge of, or a willingness to learn an understanding of Te Ao Maori and tikanga as well as to work towards fluency in Te Reo Maori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.QualificationsTertiary qualification or relevant experience in a regulatory compliance roleNew Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Core Knowledge) or equivalent desirableKo wai matou | About usThe Safer Commercial Transport team is responsible for regulating commercial transport operators : from heavy vehicles to small passenger services.

We do this by monitoring our sector through audits, reviews and investigations and working with industry to drive best practice.
