Mō te tūranga | About the role The Department of Conservation have recently made some exciting changes in how we deliver our work — so we can achieve the conservation outcomes we’re aiming for. As part of this, we’ve introduced a new role : Senior Statutory Advisor . Reporting to the Statutory and Community Manager, you’ll get to work across the region providing subject matter expertise to advise and deliver on permissions, statutory and strategic issues resulting in better outcomes for conservation.

The position will be focussed on :

• Using your expertise to provide advice to resolve complex strategic issues and opportunities
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of our regulatory process as aligned to the region’s work programme
• Collaborating and maintaining positive working relationships internally and externally to support delivery of conservation in a statutory environment
• Identifying critical issues and risks and ensure they are managed effectively

We are open to considering Queenstown, Te Anau and Invercargill locations.

The salary range for this position is 92,912 - 117,570 NZD with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience. Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
