Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleWe have exciting opportunity for a speech and language therapist to work in our dynamic multi-disciplinary Community ORA team for 32 hours per week.You will be working autonomously within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team working with people with a range of personal health conditions and disabilities including dysarthria, dysphagia, progressive neurological conditions, aphasia and age related conditions.
You will be passionate about rehabilitation and supporting self-management within the home, work or community settings, using a person and whanau centred approach to your assessment and intervention.As a valued member of our service, you will work collaboratively with our population alongside your allied health, nursing and medical colleagues in our teams.
Patients may be seen in the community, via Telehealth, or as outpatients.You will work with people who have a range of personal health conditions and disabilities including people with aphasia, progressive neurological conditions and age related conditions.
This role will suit an SLT passionate about enabling people to live their best lives.About the Team / Service LocationThe ORA Wellington Community Team is a large co-located team of allied health, nursing and medical clinicians striving to enable our community to live their best lives.
We work with people with acquired neurological, long term, or age-related conditions including Parkinson's, MND, MS, dementia, stroke and post trauma conditions.
The teams are multidisciplinary including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language therapy, social work, dietetics, liaison nursing and allied health assistants, with close links with Nurse Practitioners, Geriatricians and the Rehab Physician.
There are three community teams geographically located in Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti, with speech and language therapists based in each team so there is collegial support across our community.About youOur successful candidate will : Thrive in a team environmentWork holistically with people in community and home environments in both restorative, compensatory and social models of care.Have experience in working with acquired health conditions.Have excellent communication and time-management skills, and be able to develop positive relationships with a variety of hospital based and primary care professionals.Be an NZSTA member with a drivers licenceExperience in videofluoroscopy and Speak Out and / or LSVT certification would be an advantage, but not necessary as support for training will be available.Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
