Overview
The focus of this role is on coordinating and supporting the various teams of people within the Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) or a local Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) during a response.
As a CDEM trained volunteer, you could be asked to do a variety of office-based tasks such as writing reports, rostering staff, sorting and answering emails, managing and communicating requests, data entry, IT support or collating information.

Requirements
We are looking for reliable and trustworthy people who possess personnel management skills, are 18 years of age or older and have a minimum standard of conversational English.
Be prepared to participate in our free emergency management training.
To best suit this role, you would need
Excellent written and verbal communication.
High computing proficiency and data entry.
Structured approach & positive attitude.
Ability to work in a high-pressure team environment.
Emotional intelligence and people oriented.
Health & Safety conscious.
Self-management and flexibility.
An interest in natural hazards and emergency response.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
An open introduction event outside office hours to enable you to decide if this role is something you are interested in and to meet some of the staff you could be working and training with.
If you are still wanting to join our volunteering team, and once you have completed your application, you would need to complete a 2 hour online foundational training followed by a 2 day face-to-face Intermediate training course.
Further events, exercises and training are available and highly recommended.
NOTE :
Most training and events will happen at our Hamilton office location.
