You have a solid programming skillset but are ready to challenge yourself by starting to take on more responsibilities and larger projects within your specialization.

You may have worn a couple of different hats during your early years in the industry, but you've narrowed down your focus and are fixed on harnessing what you've learned and what you will learn to launch your career as a Generalist Engineer.You are collaborative, open-minded, and have an overall pleasant disposition.

You can take direction and feedback, are not afraid to ask questions, and understand the value of autonomous work.Role and ResponsibilitiesBlind Squirrel Games (BSG) is looking for a Generalist Engineer to join us in creating an unannounced game for console.Supported by Senior and Lead Engineers, the Generalist Engineer will solve tough technical challenges in a high energy environment with experienced industry leaders and a highly collaborative team.The ideal candidate for this role has 2+ year's experience in Unreal Engine 4+ using C++ and an eagerness to explore other game engines and programming languages.Qualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent professional experience1+ year professional experience as a programmer1+ year of professional or independent video game experienceCreate high-performance, robust, maintainable code in a cross-platform environmentEvaluate existing technology architecturesExtend existing systems to meet long-term needs of ongoing developmentWork with external development partnersAdhere to team coding standards and practiceRequired to work independently and report to a managerOther relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned to help complete company or department objectivesPreferred SkillsFluent in C / C++Familiar with C, C#, HTML, Java, or HLSL / GLSLSolid understanding of multi-threaded programmingEffective communicator in a team-oriented environmentExperience with the current PC development processFamiliar with contemporary engines (Unreal, Unity, Godot, Source, etc.)Familiar with contemporary platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Steam Deck, etc.)PLUSESUnreal Engine 5 experienceA passion for video games and game developmentPrevious experience with rendering, graphics, or optimizationBlind Squirrel Entertainment, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
