Salmon Farm Production Manager – Stewart Island

About the role :

This is a key role in our Farm management team reporting to the Salmon Farm Manager, assisting to grow our king salmon in a healthy, sustainable way that maximises growth and minimises feed wastage.

You will primarily be responsible for leading teams in developing and implementing feeding strategies to minimise FCR, training and educating team members, managing feed volumes, equipment and environmental monitoring. On the production side you will help to create medium to long-term production plans, analyse data and track key KPI’s, and help ensure that we continue to meet the highest standards in the nurturing then harvesting of our beautiful king salmon.

This opportunity involves working a roster of 8 days on / 6 days off, with accommodation provided in Stewart Island and transport to and from Bluff, a competitive salary and living-away-from-home allowance.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

• Have outstanding people leadership, development and coaching skills.
• Production planning and continuous improvement strategies.
• Extensive experience in salmon farming, specifically around feeding strategies and production planning.
• Have a hands-on approach, operational insight, analytical ability and courage to challenge the status quo.
• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in aquaculture, or have significant work experience in this area.
