About The Role
Are you a dedicated Paediatrician looking for a meaningful opportunity to contribute to child health in a supportive and progressive environment? We are looking for a fixed term Consultant Paediatrician to join our team at Hutt Hospital, where collaboration and quality care are at the heart of everything we do. This position offers a mix of acute and non-acute paediatric care, working within a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high standards of clinical service. You’ll play a key role in mentoring junior medical staff, contributing to service development, and ensuring continuity of care across our region.

About the Team / Service / Location
Our Child Health Service at Hutt Hospital includes a team of 11 general, developmental, adolescent, and community paediatricians. We provide care for paediatric admissions, support a Level 2 Neonatal Unit, and work closely with maternity services. The service is well-integrated with Wellington Hospital’s paediatric team, ensuring seamless care across the district. Hutt Hospital is a busy surgical centre, performing over 8,000 procedures annually across a range of specialties. Our ICU, which now includes expanded capacity, sees over 600 admissions per year, including paediatric patients. We are an accredited training site with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and host medical students from the University of Otago, contributing to the education and development of future paediatricians. Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kāpiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.
