General Physician - Acute Medicine and HITH
Opportunity to contribute to the establishment and evolution of our Hospital in the Home service

About the Role
We are looking to employ a General Physician to join our Department of Medicine, currently providing General Internal Medicine inpatient and outpatient services, plus a range of sub-specialty services to a population of approximately 260,000.
This position is based at Tauranga Hospital, a 359 bed Level 2 hospital.
The successful candidate will join a department of more than twenty other physicians who share General Medical responsibilities across teams.
This role will primarily be based in Acute Medicine within our Assessment and Planning unit (APU), but a significant part of the role will involve contributing to the establishment and evolution of our Hospital in the Home (HITH) service.
At times, ward-based inpatient General Medicine work may also be required but this will predominantly be an Acute Medicine role.
Tauranga Hospital runs an Acute General Medical inpatient service with support from resident sub-specialists in Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics, Oncology, Haematology, Palliative care, Neurology and Renal services.
General Physicians are well supported to provide comprehensive care.
Candidates with sub-specialty interests are welcome to enquire due to the flexible nature of the vacancy.
We also welcome trainees in the last six months of training to apply.
The department has recently implemented significant changes in the model of care and there is a strong desire to keep improving our services for both our patients and colleagues.
You will be joining a team of very motivated and flexible physicians.
There are teaching opportunities across undergraduate (years 4-6) and postgraduate (basic and advanced trainees) medicine.
Applicants must hold or be eligible for, vocational registrars with the NZ Medical Council.
