We are seeking a NZAC registered and qualified guidance counsellor to support our students / ākonga and whānau. This position will start from term 1, 2026.
You will be joining the counselling team at Newlands College and serve as a guidance counsellor for both Newlands College and Newlands Intermediate. You will be an active member of the pastoral care systems, working closely with senior leadership, teaching staff, and external agencies to ensure quality counselling services and inclusive education for all our students. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, experience using a variety of responsive counselling modalities, and a commitment to NZAC Code of Ethics.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of adolescent development and relate well to rangatahi. They will have skills in building trusted relationships to ensure that all ākonga thrive at Newlands Intermediate and Newlands College and make the most of their educational opportunities.
