Senior Cloud Engineer (Internal Job Title : Senior Infrastructure Operations Specialist) at Air New Zealand. Design, build, and optimise the platforms that power our digital products and services. Hands‑on architecture, automation, and optimisation at scale to shape secure, resilient, and future‑fit infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high‑performing solutions on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Build automation and Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform (modules, testing and CI) or cloud‑native IaC.
- Optimise workloads for performance, cost, and reliability.
- Build robust and scalable deployment mechanisms for cloud‑native applications and microservices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex platform issues to maintain 24 / 7 reliability.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.
- Partner with development and operations teams to improve developer experience and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Stay current with emerging cloud services and advise on adoption opportunities.
- Contribute to and deliver the strategy, roadmap, and standards for Air New Zealand’s Cloud platform portfolio across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in at least one hyperscale cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP), including IAM, organisation policies & landing zones, hybrid networking & private service connectivity, storage, and container / compute services.Experience building automation with Terraform or similar IaC tools.Solid understanding of containers and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.Hands‑on experience with CI / CD pipelines, Platform Engineering disciplines and DevOps practices.Strong knowledge of cloud security principles and application in enterprise environments.Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues.Familiarity with hybrid or multi‑cloud environments is an advantage, with some exposure to AWS preferred.A collaborative mindset with excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.Benefits
